Baseball 'Bows Beat Centenary 5-2 In Mid-Week Game

SHREVEPORT, La. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team (19-18) defeated the Centenary Gents (17-15) 5-2 in a mid-week game at Shehee Stadium Tuesday. Connor Little (1-0) got the win, pitching four perfect innings with four strikeouts while Lenny Linsky earned his eighth save of the season, pitching 0.2 no-hit innings. Michael Tompkins (1-3) took the loss for Centenary.

Kolten Wong went 2-for-5 with a run while David Freitas and Pi'ikea Kitamura both had two RBI, going 1-for-3 and 1-for-4, respectively.

Freitas got the Rainbows on the board early, driving in a run in the top of the first to put UH ahead 1-0. Kitamura then drove in another run in the top of the second, before the Gents put up an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning, cutting it back to 2-1.

Kitamura singled in another run in the top of the sixth, with Freitas and Jeffrey Van Doornum both driving in runs in the seventh to get it to 5-1.

Centenary made a run in the bottom of the ninth, scoring a run on a sacrifice fly, then again loaded the bases with one out. But Linsky settled the situation, inducing a 5-4-3 double play to end the game 5-2.

UH continues the road trip, returning to WAC play with games at Louisiana Tech from Apr. 22-25.
