Men’s Tennis Shoots For WAC Title This Weekend

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team takes aim at the Western Athletic Conference championship when it faces Idaho in a make-up match on Sunday, April 25. First serve is 11:00 a.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.

The teams originally met on Sunday, April 4 in Honolulu. The Rainbow Warriors took a 3-0 lead and were tantalizingly close to the clinching fourth point, but the match was ultimately halted due to rain. The two squads will now meet again from scratch—and with much at stake.

Should No. 45 Hawai'i (9-7, 3-1 WAC) beat the No. 73-ranked Vandals (19-7, 2-3 WAC), the Rainbow Warriors claim a share of the WAC regular season title with Fresno State (17-8, 4-1 WAC). This is the second year since a regular season schedule has been implemented by the WAC.

A UH win would also guarantee the Rainbow Warriors the top seed in next week's WAC Tournament in Fresno, Calif., as they would win a tie-breaker based on their 5-2 win over the Bulldogs earlier this year. The WAC Tournament begins on Friday, April 30.
