Rainbow Wahine Sailors Earn Bid To Nationals

Final Results

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's sailing team finished in third place at the Pacific Coast Sailing Conference held April 24-25 in Southern California. By finishing in the top three, the Rainbow Wahine earned a berth to next month's ICSA Women's National Championship.

The Rainbow Wahine sailors have now qualified for the nationals in 11 of the last 13 years. The women's berth also clinched a nationals trifecta for the UH sailing program. The program qualified for the nationals in all three events—coed dinghy, team racing and women's—for the first time since 2004.

Stanford won the regatta with a low of 101 points, while USC (105) placed second to also claim a nationals berth. UH (110) guaranteed its spot with a strong performance by Hannah Tuson-Turner and Hanne Nagatani, who  claimed the A division title with a low of 44 points. Darla Baldwin and Jaclyn McLoughlin finished in fourth place in the B division with 66 points.

The Rainbow Wahine will now head to the ICSA Women's National Championship, May 25-28, in Madison, Wisc.
