UH Athletics Honors 180 Scholar-Athletes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i honored a record 180 student-athletes at its annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner, Tuesday night, at the Stan Sheriff Center. The event attracted not only the student-athletes, but professors, academic staff, athletic staff, coaches, and university administration.

To qualify, each student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average during the 2009-10 academic year. For student-athletes who attended UH for one semester (freshman and transfer students), each qualified with a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. For athletes who completed more than one semester at UH, each qualified with a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher or a two-semester GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The football team led all sports with 30 scholar-athletes, followed by women's swimming and diving (18), men's swimming & diving (16), baseball (15) and soccer (14).
