Rainbow Sailors Finish 13th At ICSA Dinghy Semifinals

Final Results

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Hawai`i coed sailing team placed 13th at the ICSA Coed National Championship Eastern Semifinal, held May 1-2, on the Cooper River. The Rainbows finished with 313 points and fell short of being one of the nine qualifiers for the national finals in Madison, Wisc., next month.
 
Boston College won the 18-school regatta easily with 114 points, well ahead of runner-up and host College of Charleston (149 points). Also advancing to the finals were Georgetown, Vermont, Tufts, Brown, Navy, South Florida and Kings Point. Those teams will join the nine qualifiers from the Western Semifinals in Madison, June 1-3.
 
A total of 15 races each in two divisions were completed over the weekend. William Petersen skippered the A division team, while Zachary Hester guided the Rainbows in the B division. Tahnee Allman, Darla Baldwin and Hannah Tuson-Turner served as crew.
 
The coed team will still be heading to Madison, Wisc., as they will participate in the ICSA Team Race National Championship, May 29-31. The Rainbow Wahine will also be there, competing in the women's championship, beginning on May 25.
