Day 1 Results
HENDERSON, Nevada – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team opened the 49th annual Western Athletic Conference Championships with a 302, Monday, at the Rio Secco Golf Club. The Warriors are currently in ninth place.
“We struggled today and to be honest we have struggled all semester long to find that consistency from top to bottom,” said head coach
Ronn Miyashiro. “We still have two more days of this and we need to continue to try and improve each round.”
Leading UH is sophomore #T.J. Kua# in a three-way tie for fourth place. Kua fired a 69 with seven birdies, and is just five shots off the lead.
Leading the team field is Nevada at seven-under par (281), followed by host Mew Mexico State (283) and San Jose State (287). Individually, Timothy Madigan of NMSU leads at eight-under par (64).
The three-day championship continues Tuesday with the second round.
