Women's Golf Inks Anna DePalma For 2010-11 Season

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i women's golf head coach Lori Castillo announced the signing of Anna DePalma of San Clemente, Calif., to a National Letter of Intent for the 2010-11 season. DePalma is the third golfer to join the Rainbow Wahine for the upcoming season.

“The entire team is very excited to have Anna join us next year,” Castillo said. “Her overall character, personality, and dedication through hard work will be a great asset to the team. She gets along really well with people and has a strong work ethic, traits that will definitely fit right into our team concept.”

A senior at San Clemente High School in California, DePalma is a four-time all-league performer and team captain during her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. She is also a four-time scholar-athlete award winner. As a senior, she won the CIF Southern Section Individual Championship and placed 10th at the CIF Regional competition. She was named Most Valuable Player of the South Coast League and second team all-county.

In 2009, DePalma was the “Shot from the Top” third place winner of the Toshiba Classic; runner-up at the Palm Desert Tournament; and placed third at the Cypress Ridge of the Toyota Tour Cup Series. During the summer, she helped her SoCal team win the SoCal vs. NorCal competition and placed third at the American Junior Golf Association's West Junior Open Qualifier.

During her career, she has two wins and six Top 10 finishes. Her low round in competition play is 71. She also participated in the Joanne Winter Arizona Silverbelle in 2009 and was invited to play in the Kathy Whitworth Invitational in March.

Also signing on for the 2010-11 season were Maryssa Shigesato of Mililani, O'ahu and Madeleine Ystrom of Stockholm, Sweden.
