Kua In Fourth At WAC Championships; Warriors Remain In Ninth

Day 2 Results

HENDERSON, Nevada – University of Hawai'i men's golfer #T.J. Kua# is in fourth place after two rounds of the Western Athletic Conference Championships, Tuesday, at the Rio Secco Golf Club. The sophomore sunk four birdies with only one bogey in his second consecutive round of three-under, 69 (69-69=138).
 
Also competing for the Warriors are freshman Cory Oride (75-76=151/T33rd), sophomore Jared Sawada (75-78=153/T40th), junior Kamden Brakel (86-75=161/44th), and sophomore Pono Calip (83-79=162/45th).
 
As a team, the men shaved four strokes off their first-round score to card a 600 (302-298). They remain in ninth place going into the final round.
 
Host New Mexico State (283-274=557) took the lead after ending Day 1 two strokes back of Nevada. NMSU posted an outstanding 14-under on the round, with three individuals in the top-10 including leader Timothy Madigan at 12-under par (64-68=132). NMSU will have a four-shot advantage over Nevada going Day 3.
 
The tournament concludes Wednesday with the third and final round.
