Warrior Golf Concludes WAC Championships

Final Results

HENDERSON, Nevada – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished the Western Athletic Conference Championships in ninth place, Wednesday, at the Rio Secco Golf Club. The Warriors carded rounds of 302, 298, and 318 for a 918 total.
 
Leading UH for the fourth consecutive tournament, sixth overall this season, was sophomore #T.J. Kua#. Kua was in fourth place after the second round but struggled a bit in the third round to post an 80 and finish tied for 12th at two-over par (69-69-80=218). Along with earning his second-best finish of the season, Kua was named Second Team All-WAC.
 
Also competing for the Warriors were freshman Cory Oride (75-76-81=232/37th), sophomore Jared Sawada (75-78-80=233/T38th), junior Kamden Brakel (86-75-78=239/44th), and sophomore Pono Calip (83-79-80=242/45th).
 
Host New Mexico State won the team title at 13-under par (283-274-294=851), while NMSU's Timothy Madigan, leader through all three rounds, took the individual title at 14-under par (64-68-70=202), 10 strokes ahead of the rest of the field. The junior was named WAC Player of the Year.
