Rainbows Drop Mid-Week Game At Stanford 5-1

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team (26-24) fell to the Stanford Cardinal (28-20) 5-1 at the Sunken Diamond Tuesday. Harrison Kuroda (0-1) took the loss for UH while Brian Busick (5-1) got the win for the Cardinal.
 
Kevin Fujii hit the first home run of his career, going 2-for-3 on the game. Kolten Wong added a 2-for-4 game while Pi'ikea Kitamura and Greg Garcia also had hits for the 'Bows.
 
Josh Slaats started the game, allowing no runs on one hit in 2.0 innings. Alex Capaul also pitched 2.0 innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits with two strikeouts.
 
Fujii hit his homer to open the scoring in the top of the third inning, giving UH the early lead. Stanford then tied it with an unearned run in the bottom of fourth.
 
The Cardinal then took the lead in the sixth scoring on a couple RBI singles and a balk, putting them ahead 4-1. SU added an insurance run in the seventh, making the final score 5-1.
 
Hawai'i will now head down the 101 freeway to close the regular season with a four-game series at San Jose State from May 21-23.
