2010 Super Regional Notes
TUSCALOOSA, Ala.—The No. 19/23 University of Hawai'i softball team (47-13, 19-1 WAC) won its second NCAA Regional in four years and punched its ticket to the NCAA Super Regionals where they will battle No. 3/4 Alabama (51-9, 23-4 SEC) at the University of Alabama Softball Complex in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
All of the games in the Tuscaloosa Super Regional will be broadcast on ESPN's family of networks. The game time for Friday, May 28th with either be 5:30 or 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game(s) will be at 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 (if necessary).
Hawai`i swept through the Stanford Regional, defeating UC Davis, No. 15/17 Stanford, and Texas Tech to advance in the tournament. It is the second time in school history that the 'Bows have made the Super Regionals. In 2007, the 'Bows swept the UCLA Regional and was shipped to No. 1 Tennessee, where they fell in the first game, but bounced back to force a game three. UH finished just one win shy of advancing to the Women's College World Series.
For Alabama, this is the sixth straight season the the Crimson Tide has advanced to the Super Regionals. The Tide are rolling on a 27 game win streak (the longest in school history), as they also swept through to capture the regional title. 'Bama took just five innings to take care of Alcorn State, 9-0, then defeated Lipscomb twice, 5-2 and 6-0, to advance.

Game 2 - Hawai`i vs. Alabama; Saturday, May 29 at 4:00 p.m.
Game 3 - Hawai`i vs. Alabama; Saturday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. (If necessary)
Where: Alabama Softball Complex (3,095)
Television: Game 1 will be broadcast live on ESPNU while Game 2 will be televised on ESPN.
Radio: ESPN 1420 AM will carry all the games live with Blaine Kauwe handling the play-by-play
Coaches: Bob Coolen is in his 19th season at the University of Hawai'i with a 714-425-1. Overall in 24 seasons as a head coach, he has amassed a 787-518-1 record. Alabama's Patrick Murphy is in his 12th season as the Tide's head coach with a 630-177 record and a 658-197 overall record.
Series: The Rainbow Wahine and Crimson Tide have faced each other three times, with Alabama winning all three contests. Last year, UH took 'Bama to eight innings, before falling, 1-0 at the Cathedral City Classic in Calif.
Hawai`i Post-Season Record: This is the ninth time in school history (all under head coach
Bob Coolen) that the 'Bows have advanced to the NCAA Tournament. It is the first time entered with the conference's automatic bid after sweeping the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M. earlier this month. UH is 19-15 in Regionals and 1-2 in their only Super Regional at Tennessee.
