Men’s Volleyball’s Zemljak Named Academic All-Conference

WOODLAND, Calif. – University of Hawai'i junior setter Nejc Zemljak was named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball academic all-conference team for the second consecutive year.
 
MSPF executive director Al Beaird announced the 2010 team, which included 46 student-athletes. The criteria included a 3.0 grade point average or better, at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year and must have played in 50 percent or more of the team's matches.
 
The Maribor, Slovenia native started all 29 matches at setter and appeared in all 109 sets. He was named all-MPSF honorable mention after guiding the Warriors to a .295 hitting percentage and 16.15 kills per set, the latter of which ranked second in the MPSF. Zemljak averaged 13.14 assists per set, which was fifth-best in the MPSF and led the team and ranked fifth in the league with 40 aces.
 
This past season Zemljak helped UH reach the MPSF Tournament semifinals and finish No. 4 in the national polls. The Warriors also snapped a three-year streak of losing records and also ended a two-year drought of missing the MPSF Tournament.
