Women's Water Polo Lands Two On Academic All-Conference Team

MPSF All-Academic Release

WOODLAND, Calif. – University of Hawai'i women's water polo student-athletes Dagmar Genee and Monika Eggens were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic team, announced Wednesday morning.
 
Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Executive Director, Al Beaird, announced the 2010 MPSF team with 52 student-athletes honored. The criteria included a 3.0 grade point average or better, at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year and must have played in 50 percent or more of the team's matches.
 
Eggens, a sophomore, earned all-academic honors in her first year eligible to be named to the team. Eggens had an outstanding sophomore season, being named first team all-MPSF and named to the MPSF all-tournament team. Eggens led the conference in goal scoring and was named MPSF player of the week twice during the season.
 
For Genee, it is her first career all-academic honor, as she finished her second season at UH. Genee started all 26 matches and led the team on defense with 48 steals. She also added 20 goals and led the offense with 26 assists.
