‘Ahahui Koa Anuenue Elects New Board Members for 2010-11

HONOLULU – 'Ahahui Koa Anuenue (AKA), the non-profit fundraising partner of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Athletics Department (UHAD), is pleased to announce the addition of eight new board members and the election of Al Chee as board secretary.
 
John Fink is Vice President and General Manager of KFVE-TV and his company has been televising UH Athletics events for over 25 years. He serves on the advisory committee for the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association, Hawaiian Airlines Diamondhead Classic Steering Committee, and Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Committee. 
 
Lissa Guild-Eveleth is Senior Marketing Manager for Hawaiian Telcom which is a platinum corporate partner for UH Athletics. Other community activities include serving as Board Chair for YWCA of Oahu, and Board member for Seagull Schools. 

Al Hoffman joined Hawaiian Airlines in 2008 as Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs and is a diamond corporate partner for UH Athletics. Al is a television and public relations veteran. He spent 20 years on the management team at KHON-TV before moving on to leadership roles at Hill & Knowlton Hawaii and Communications Pacific. Prior to his appointment to Hawaiian, Al ran his own PR practice.
 
Bert T. Kobayashi, Jr. is Senior Partner and founding member of the law firm, Kobayashi, Sugita and Goda. He originally served as President for AKA in 2003-05 where he was instrumental in reorganizing the board and revitalizing the preferred seating and parking program.

Dustin Sellers serves as president of business development and marketing for ProService Hawaii. Sellers serves on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters Honolulu (incoming chair), the Corporate Council of The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii and the Aloha Council for the Boy Scouts of America; he is a member of the Young Presidents Organization.
 
Donn Takaki is President of Hawktree International, a holding company for Island Movers and affiliated companies with hundreds of employees statewide performing ground transportation, logistics and storage related work. Other current community activities include member of Young Presidents' Organization and Vice Chairman of Aloha United Way.

Adam Wong is founder of ACW Ventures, a diversified investment firm that focuses on local private equity and real estate opportunities. He is an Assistant Coach for the Iolani Varsity Basketball team and serves as a Director of the Board of Water Supply as well as on the board of Re-Use Hawaii. 
 
Hugh Yoshida retired as Athletics Director at the University of Hawaii in 2003 and since then has served as Chairman, Executive Committee Sheraton Hawaii Bowl, Chairman, Executive Committee for Diamond Head Classic, President, National Football Foundation (Hawaii Chapter), and board member, OIA Athletics Foundation.
 
“We are excited about bringing on some very established and energetic board members who will continue to carry AKA's mission of supporting UH Athletics and its student-athletes. We also acknowledge and thank our departing board members who have been instrumental in building AKA to what it is today. Those board members are: Rick Blangiardi, Eric Fujimoto, Steve Goodenow, Chris Kobayashi, Bert A. Kobayashi, Jr., Jean E. Rolles, MaryAnn Sacharski, and Keith Vieira.” Don Takaki, AKA Chairman, said.

'Ahahui Koa Anuenue is the University of Hawai'i, Athletics Department's primary fundraising organization. Established in 1967, AKA manages the preferred seating and parking program and athletic booster club programs, and works in partnership with the UH Foundation for major and planned giving opportunities which benefit all athletic programs at UH Manoa.
