Jeff Hall Hired As New Men’s Volleyball Assistant

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i men's volleyball head coach Charlie Wade announced the hiring of Jeff Hall as assistant coach. Hall comes to UH from his alma mater, the University of the Pacific, where he spent three seasons as assistant coach.

“Jeff brings an impressive resume of recruiting at both the club and collegiate level,” Wade said. “He has experience coaching in the MPSF at two different schools so he's familiar with the teams in the league and understands what's required to be successful. He will be very hands-on in the practice gym and will contribute to our recruiting efforts.”

“I feel honored to be selected to join Charlie's staff at the University of Hawai'i,” Hall said. “With a great history and reputation of success at the championship level, I hope to contribute to this program and coaching staff. Having lived in Hawai'i for a year, I understand the passion and how important this team is to the state of Hawai'i, so I feel very fortunate to be able to be a part of that.”

At UOP, Hall was the first assistant whose main duties included coaching the attackers, scouting and recruiting coordinator, and academic progress coordinator.

Prior to UOP, Hall spent three years with the UC San Diego men's and women's volleyball teams from 2004-07. His primary duties with the women included coaching the middle blockers while serving as recruiting coordinator and first assistant with the men. He helped the Tritons women's team advance to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals in 2004.

Hall also was the first assistant at Grossmont College for five seasons from 2000-04, where his teams finished fifth in the state twice. A native of St. Paul, Minn., he also coached at Mission Bay High School for three years and was the head coach of the top-ranked Seaside 18's club team in Del Mar for seven seasons. His club won the gold medal at the Junior Olympics in Minneapolis in 2006 while also producing seven Top 10 finishes nationally, including five in the Top 5.

Considered one of the top players in the Pacific volleyball history, Hall was named the team's offensive player of the year in his only two seasons with the Tigers in 1993 and '94. After earning his bachelor's degree of fine arts in graphic design in 1999, he was selected to the United States Olympic Festival during the summers of 1993 and '94. He played on the beach for the AVP professionally for four seasons.

Prior to Pacific, Hall played at Orange Coast Junior College, where he earned first-team all-Orange Empire Conference honors. He also attended and played at Park College where he was named Offensive Player of the Year, as well as an All-American at the A.A.U. Junior Nationals competition.

Hall and his wife Jayme, have two daughters, Dylan Makela, 4, and Devon Hana, 3. Hall lived in Kona for one year following college.
