Salas Named To Biletnikoff Award Watch List

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Hawai'i slot receiver Greg Salas was named to the watch list of the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which is presented to the nation's top receiver. Salas was also named to the watch list last season.

In 2009, the Chino, Calif., native ranked among the nation's leaders in receptions per game (8.15) and receiving yards per game (122.3). Salas was named to Phil Steele's All-America fourth team and honorable mention by SI.com in addition to all-WAC first team.

His 1,590 receiving yards is the second-highest single-season total in school history and he is one of only four players to reach 100 catches in a season. Since 2008, Salas has caught a pass in 27 consecutive games.

Salas is one of four players representing Western Athletic Conference schools mentioned on the watch list joining Boise State's Austin Pettis and Titus Young and Nevada's Brandon Wimberly. Notre Dame's Golden Tate was last year's award winner.

The recipient of the 2010 Biletnikoff Award will be announced live on ESPN on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 9. The Biletnikoff Award Presentation Banquet will be held at the University Center Club at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2011.

The award is named for Fred Biletnikoff, the Florida State University All-American receiver and a Pro Football Hall of Famer. The award has been given out for the past 15 years.
