HONOLULU—University of Hawai'i women's basketball head coach Dana Takahara-Dias released the 2010-11 schedule for the Rainbow Wahine today. The schedule features a tough non-conference slate of teams representing 11 different conferences from across the country as well as a challenging conference schedule.

“We are very excited to once again play top-notch teams in the world of Division I women's basketball.” says Takahara-Dias. “Our 2010-11 schedule has us pitted against 14 teams that saw post-season action last year—including six NCAA tournament teams. Our non-conference schedule is highlighted by the four tournaments that we are hosting.”

The 'Bows open their 2010-11 campaign with a pair of exhibition games against Chaminade (Nov. 4) and BYU-Hawai'i (Nov. 11) before officially opening the season with the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic (Nov. 19-21), starting with Cal State Northridge, Eastern Michigan, and Oregon State.

Hawai'i follows with the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Showdown (Nov. 26-28) with a solid field including NCAA tourney teams North Carolina and Gonzaga, WNIT squads Illinois and Mississippi, along with Washington State, Long Beach State, and North Carolina Central.

The Rainbow Wahine then head to the mainland for their first roadtrip of the season, playing games at defending Big Sky champion, Portland State (Dec. 2) and then Portland  (Dec. 4), who played in last season's inaugural Women's Basketball Invitational post-season tournament.

The 'Bows return to the Islands for two tournaments to close out their non-conference portion of the schedule. First, the 'Bows will head to the Big Island for the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Shootout (Dec. 19-21), which will be played at the Afook-Chinen Civic Center in Hilo, Hawai'i. UCLA and East Carolina will be the teams participating in the outer island tournament.

Columbia, CS Bakersfield, and UNLV round out the field for UH's final non-conference tournament, the Pepsi Rainbow Wahine Invitational (Dec. 28-30) held back in the Stan Sheriff Center.

Once again, the conference schedule features home and road matches against all WAC schools starting with New Mexico State coming to town on Jan. 6. The 2011 WAC Tournament (Mar. 9-12) returns to Las Vegas, Nev. for the first time since 1999 with the games to be played at the Orleans Arena.
