UH Athletics Holds Fundraiser Golf Tournament In California

The 2010 UH Athletics Golf Tournament attracted a record 250 participants.

INDUSTRY, Calif. – University of Hawai'i Athletics held its 13th annual fundraiser golf tournament Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Pacific Palms Resort.
 
The tournament attracted 250 golfers, the most ever for the event. It included alumni, expatriates, former student-athletes, and supporters of the university. The tournament's title sponsor was Pacific Guardian Life and it was chaired by Jimmy Masatsugu, Stan Kamiya, former UH athletics director Hugh Yoshida, and former UH quarterback Tim Lyons.
 
Among the participants included former UH football players Steve Lehor, Frank Strong, Sam Carroll, Kerry Brady, and Kurt Kafentzis. Former UH men's basketball head coach Riley Wallace also participated as well as Pacific Guardian Life Chairman Alan Goda.
 
For the first time, the tournament was held at the Pacific Palms Resorts, which was named the 2010 Golf Course of the Year by the National Golf Course Operators Association.
 
At the conclusion of the tournament, participants were treated to a western-style barbeque banquet which included team and individual prizes and lucky number drawings. The grand prize was a trip to Hawai'i. Other prizes included box seats at Dodger Stadium, hotel accommodations, golf equipment, and UH merchandise.
 
In addition to Pacific Guardian Life, other tournament sponsors included Anheuser Busch Hawai'i, Pepsi Hawai'i, Kyoya, Boyd Gaming, Rainbowtique, Noh Foods Hawai'i, Hawai'i Host, and King's Hawaiian Bakery.
