No. 5 Rainbow Wahine Start WAC Play With Utah State And Nevada

HONOLULU – The No. 5 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team opens conference play this week, facing the Utah State Aggies and the Nevada Wolf Pack on Thursday, Sept. 23, and Friday, Sept. 24, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
Hawai'i closed out a great pre-conference slate, going 10-1, including two three-set wins over Brigham Young this past week.
 
The Rainbow Wahine have been dominant in Western Athletic Conference play since joining the conference in 1996, holding a record of 198-4 in regular season play, winning all 14 conference regular season titles. UH has also won the last 10 WAC Tournament titles.
 
What: Hawai'i vs. Utah State and Nevada
When: Thursday, Sept. 23 (7 p.m.), Friday, Sept. 24 (7 p.m.)
Where: Stan Sheriff Center (10,300)
Television: KFVE (Ch. 5) will televise the matches this week with Jim Leahey handling the play-by-play and Chris McLachlin doing color commentary. All matches will be replayed at 10:30 p.m. that night. The matches will also be available over the Internet on http://uhstreaming.oceanic.com for a fee.
Radio: ESPN 1420 (1420 AM) will broadcast the matches this week, live with Scott Robbs handling the play-by-play.

Promotional Information: Farmers Insurance Hawaii, the match sponsor on Thursday, will distribute 1,500 seat cushions and award $250 in gas gift certificates during the promotional activity at intermission. Farmers will be collecting non-perishable food items outside Gate A before the match. September is "Hunger Action Month" nationwide. Jack In The Box, the match sponsor on Friday, will giveaway 1,000 recyclable shopper bags before the match and $150 in “Jack Cash” during the promotional activity at intermission.
