Softball Announces Fall Schedule

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i head softball coach, Bob Coolen, announced his fall schedule today. The 'Bows will play games in both October and November for the first time in recent history.
 
Hawai'i opens their fall practices on Monday, October 4 and will play a doubleheader a couple of weeks later against Christian Brothers University on Tuesday, October 19. The first pitch against the Buccaneers is slated for 6:00 p.m. In November, the 'Bows will face Chaminade in a three-game series with a single game on Friday, Nov. 5 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Nov. 6 starting at 12:00 p.m. UH will close its fall practices with its annual Alumnae Game on Friday, Nov. 12 at 5:00 p.m.
 
Immediately following the Alumnae Game, the Rainbow Wahine will head over to the Stan Sheriff Center, where they will be receiving their commemorative NCAA Women's College World Series bracelets during the halftime festivities of the Hawai'i vs. Montana State men's basketball game.
 
The softball team returns 16 letterwinners—including five starters and both pitchers from last year's record-setting WCWS team. Helping lead the 2011 'Bows are All-Americans Melissa Gonzalez and Kelly Majam along with NFCA All-West Region players Jessica Iwata, Stephanie Ricketts, and Jenna Rodriguez.
 
The 'Bows open the 2011 season with the Hawai'i Paradise Classic (February 10-12) featuring Southern Utah, Texas State, and 2010 NCAA Regional opponent, UC Davis.
