Tournament Notes
The University of Hawai'i men's golf team kicks off the 2010-11 season by travelling to Lake Tahoe, Nevada to compete in the Wolf Pack Classic, Oct. 4 through 5.
This year's classic will be played at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, rated one of “America's Top Golf Courses” by Golf Digest. The course has played host to a U.S. Senior Open and U.S. Public Links Championship, and has been the home of the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship for the past 21 years.
14 teams will be competing alongside the Warriors, including host Nevada, Fresno State, Idaho, Loyola Marymount, Portland, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Francisco, Stephen F. Austin State, Washington State, Wyoming, UAB, UC Santa Barbara, and Utah.
Golfers will play a total of 54 holes on the par-72 course. Play begins Monday with 36 holes, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday to conclude the tournament. Competing for the Warriors will be senior
Kamden Brakel, junior #T.J. Kua#, and freshmen
Nainoa Calip,
Cory Oride and
Henry Park.
The last time UH competed in a Wolf Pack Classic was in 2007 when the men finished 14th (309-289-295=893).
Kamden Brakel tied for 86th place at 19-over par (80-76-79=235), while former Warrior Robert Berton led the team in a tie for 34th place (79-69-73=221).
