HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team visited Kapi'olani Medical Center For Women & Children on Wednesday with players, coaches and staff providing encouragement, mementos and autographs for ailing children.

“This was a great opportunity for our team to reach out to those in need,” head coach Gib Arnold said. “These children could really use a lift and it was our hope today to brighten up their day and give them something to feel good about. Any time our student-athletes can do that we'll be there, because community service is an integral part of our program.”

The Rainbow Warriors officially start practice this Friday, Oct. 15 and will host the UH 'Ohana Hoopfest at the Stan Sheriff Center following the women's volleyball match versus San Jose State. Festivities will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. with the unveiling of the men's and women's basketball teams, entertainment, giveaways, a celebrity game, and an autograph session.
