Aitken Paces UH Cross Country At Bronco Invitational

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – University of Hawai'i cross country runner Ashley Aitken placed fifth overall at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational Saturday at Baylands Regional Park.
 
Aitken, a senior from Napier, New Zealand, ran a personal-best 17:10.7 on the 5K course. At last year's race, Aitken placed sixth with a personal best 17:23.
 
Among UH's other top finishers include Kevyn Murphy (18:12.8, 63rd), Liisa Cushing (18:51.9, 120th), Dominique Miller (18:54.1, 123rd), and Ali Williams (19:06.9, 137th). The Rainbow Wahine set two personal bests and two seasonal-bests.
 
As a team, the Rainbow Wahine placed 16th overall with 380 total points. Long Beach State captured the team title while Pepperdine's Lauren Lodge took home top individual honors, crossing the finish line in 16:50.4.
 
UH's “B” team competed in the BYU-Hawai'i Open Saturday and six of the seven runners ran personal bests. UH's “B” team will next compete in the HPU Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 23 at Kualoa Ranch.
