Day 1 Results
FAIRFAX, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team is in 16th place after two rounds of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Monday, at the Meadow Club. The Warriors posted a 579 total, with rounds of 292 and 287.
Leading UH is junior #T.J. Kua# at even-par (70-72=142). Kua played consistently well, with five birdies and 26 pars. He goes into the final round tied for 39th.
Two shots back of Kua is sophomore
Cory Oride in a tie for 57th place (71-73=144).
At six-over par is sophomore
Henry Park who was the only Warrior to sink an eagle on the day. He carded a second-round 70 to match his career-low, and is currently tied for 72nd (78-70=148).
Competing in his first collegiate tournament is freshman
Tommy Yamashita who is in 78th place at eight-over par (78-72=150).
Rounding out the Warrior squad is junior
Jared Sawada in 80th (73-82=155).
Leading the team standings is the tournament host, No. 22 California (262-266=528). The Golden Bears posted an outstanding 40-under, and go into the final round 10 shots ahead of No. 15 San Diego State (267-271=538).
Individually, Ben An of Cal (65-64=129) and Alex Kang of SDSU (62-67=129) are tied for first at 13-under par.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the third round beginning at 8 a.m. PST.
