Game Notes

The University of Hawai'i football team, winners of its last four games and a top the Western Athletic Conference standings, will play at Utah State, Saturday, Oct. 23. Kickoff is 3:00 p.m. MT (11:00 a.m. HT) at Romney Stadium.

The Warriors (5-2, 3-0 WAC) are coming off an upset win over then-No. 19 Nevada, 27-21, last Saturday in Honolulu. Hawai'i snapped the Wolf Pack's six-game win streak and limited their high-powered rushing attack to 134 yards, 180 below their season average. Quarterback Bryant Moniz passed for 287 yards and three touchdowns while the Warrior defense forced four Nevada turnovers, including two fumbles by linebacker Corey Paredes.

The Aggies (2-4, 0-2) have not played since a 24-6 loss at Louisiana Tech, Oct. 9. USU is 2-1 at home this season, including a 31-16 victory over Brigham Young. The Aggies opened the season with a hard-fought 31-24 loss at Oklahoma, who is currently the top-ranked team in the first BCS standings.

UH and USU have met 10 times with each winning five. Since Utah State joined the WAC in 2005, the Warriors have won four of the five meetings and have scored 49 or more points in each of their wins. In 2008, the Aggies defeated UH, 30-14 in Logan, Utah.

Last season, the Warriors won, 49-36 on their Homecoming Game. UH led 35-7 at halftime and piled up 697 yards of total offense, just 44 yards short of the school record. The Warriors finished with 360 rushing yards, its most in 14 years, led by Leon Wright-Jackson's career-high 167 yards and three touchdowns. Moniz passed for 337 yards and four touchdowns, while slot receiver Greg Salas had 10 catches for 187 yards and two scores.
