Rainbow Wahine Swimmers Beat Seattle Again In Dual Meet

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine swimming team defeated Seattle University 177-110 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex Saturday, winning 14 of the 16 events on the day while the divers participated in a series of optional and voluntary dives.
 
Melissa Myers, Maura Barrett, Alyssa Foo and Maddie Takaki all won two individual events each. Myers took the 1,000 freestyle (10:32.79) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.83). Barrett won the 200 freestyle (1:52.52) and the 100 freestyle (52.98). Foo won the 100 backstroke (1:00.16) and the 200 backstroke (2:07.44). Takaki won in the 20 butterfly (2:09.06) and the 100 butterfly (58.37).
 
Other UH winners included Thea Accornero in the 50 freestyle (25.03), Daniella Nero in the one-meter dive (198.45), Stephanie DeLima in the three-meter dive (283.80) and Hayden Maclean in the 400 individual medley (4:35.17).
 
Hawai'i also won both relays. The 200 medley relay won with a time of 1:49.49. The winning team consisted of Barrett, Valerie Pagett, Takaki and Accornero. The winning 200 freestyle team had Accornero, Barrett, Alyssa Hozak and Nicole Larson, coming in with a time of 1:38.19.

Two Rainbow Wahine divers, senior Stephanie De Lima and junior Daniella Nero made their qualifying score for the NCAA Zone E Diving Qualifying Meet. The meet,  which will be held in March in Minneapolis is the only opportunity that divers have to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
 
UH will next host a senior diving meet on Saturday, Oct. 23, before hosting Arizona State on Nov. 5 and 6, at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.
