Warrior Golf Hosts Kaua‘i Collegiate Invitational

Tournament Notes

The University of Hawai'i men's golf team returns home to host the 3rd annual Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 24 through 26, at the Puakea Golf Course in Lihue, Kaua'i.
 
This year's field is made up of 10 teams, including the Warriors, British Columbia, Gonzaga, Hawai'i-Hilo, Hawai'i Pacific, Northern Colorado, San Diego, Seattle, Texas-San Antonio, and Osaka Gakuin of Japan.
 
Golfers will play a total of 54 holes, 18 holes each day, on a par-72 course checking in at 6,954 yards.
 
In last year's event, the Warriors earned fourth place for their best finish of the 2009-10 season (289-284-296=869). Junior #T.J. Kua# led the team by posting the lowest round (67), lowest 54-hole score (209), and best finish (5th) of his collegiate career.
 
Also competing in the invite were junior Jared Sawada (220/T25th), senior Kamden Brakel (222/T28th), sophomore Alex Chu (223/T31st), sophomore Cory Oride (229/41st), and junior Pono Calip (238/54th) who participated as an individual.
 
San Diego is the tournament's reigning champion, capturing the title two years in a row.
