SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's tennis team continued competition with day two of the USTA/ITA Regional Tennis Championships hosted by San Diego State at the Barnes Tennis Center.
Nearly 100 players from a dozen West Coast schools are competing in the five-day tournament.
Katarina Poljakova, UH's lone survivor in the championship for singles was eliminated Friday by No. 2 seed Andra Remynse of USC 6-0, 6-0 in the round of 32. Meanwhile, the duo of
Alyssa Nafarrete and
Aglae Van den Bergh were knocked out the doubles championship bracket with an 8-1 loss to top seeded Valeria Pulido and Alison Ramos of USC.
Meanwhile, the seventh-seeded pair of
Barbara Pinterova and Poljakova are locked into the round of 16 after a first-round bye and an 8-6 win over of Jill Damion and Kiersten Meehan of UC Santa Barbara in the round of 32 on Thursday. The pair had today off.
Meanwhile,
Magdalena Ploch won a pair of matches today in the singles consolation bracket and is one win away from the quarterfinals.
