Kua Tied For Second At Kaua‘i Collegiate Invite

Round 1 Results

LIHUE, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team opened play at the 3rd annual Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational, Sunday, at the Puakea Golf Course. Junior #T.J. Kua# is currently tied for second place, carding a first-round 71 to lead the Warriors.
 
UH entered two teams into the competition, with one squad ending the day in sixth place and the other finishing eighth.
 
Sophomore Cory Oride, sophomore Alex Chu, and freshman Nainoa Calip are all in tie for 19th at three-over par (75). Sophomore Henry Park is tied for 26th with a 76, while senior Kamden Brakel and freshman Tommy Yamashita are tied for 30th at five-over par (77). Rounding out the UH teams are junior Pono Calip (78/T39th), junior Jared Sawada (80/T44th), and senior Chris Estes (95/53rd).
 
San Diego leads the team standings at seven-under (281) with its own Gunner Wiebe leading individually after firing a first-round 66 (-6).
 
The tournament continues Monday with the second round and concludes on Tuesday with the final round.
