Green, Paredes Win WAC Weekly Award

DENVER – University of Hawai'i running back Alex Green and linebacker Corey Paredes were named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively, following their performances in the Warriors' 45-7 victory over Utah State.

Green, a senior from Portland, Ore. (Butte CC), rushed for a career-high 172 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries against the Aggies. He had a career-long rush of 60 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The four touchdowns scored ties for the most by a WAC player this year and are the most for a Warrior in a game since 1995. The 172 yards rushing are the most for a Hawai'i player since 1993.

Paredes, a junior from Kane'ohe, O'ahu (Castle HS), had a game-high 10 tackles. He recorded one tackle for loss and also picked off his first two passes of his career, both of which set up Warrior touchdowns after both plays. Paredes helped anchor a defense that held the Aggies to 181 yards of total offense, the fewest in a game for the Warriors since 2005.

The award marks the first for Green and second in as many weeks for Paredes. It is also Paredes' third career player of the week award.
