MISSION BAY, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow sailing team finished third at the inaugural PCCSC Match Race Championship, hosted by UC Irvine, Oct. 23-24.
A total of seven schools competed in the two-day regatta with Rainbows

Craig Schifferns and
Lindsay Stewart sailing for UH. The competition included three different stages. Stage 1 on Saturday included a round-robin format. The Rainbows, skippered by Petersen, swept the field, going a perfect 6-0.
On Sunday, UH was among the top four teams in the gold fleet and went head-to-head with eventual champions Cal Maritime, dropping a pair of races. That put the Rainbows in the third and final stage against UC San Diego as the Rainbows won both races to capture third place.
Next up for UH is the PCCSC Fall Dinghy Championships, Nov. 13-14, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
