Warrior Golf Concludes Kaua‘i Collegiate Invite In Third

Final Results

LIHUE, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished third at the Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational, Tuesday, at the Puakea Golf Course. The Warriors carded rounds of 299, season-low 283, and 294 to earn their best finish since the 2007 WAC Championships where they took second place.
 
Junior #T.J. Kua# posted a final-round 70 to lead the Warriors at four-under par (71-70-71=212). Kua has done well in all three Kaua'i Invites in which he has competed, tying for 15th in 2008, finishing fifth in 2009, and finally tying for third place for a career-best finish.
 
Sophomore Henry Park also played a career-best tournament, finishing in ninth place at three-over par with a 67 in the second round (76-67-76=219).
 
Freshmen Nainoa Calip (75-76-70=221) and Tommy Yamashita (77-74-71=222) both had respectable finishes, tying for 14th and 16th respectively.
 
Also competing for UH were sophomore Alex Chu (75-72-80=227/T28th), sophomore Cory Oride (75-78-76=229) and junior Jared Sawada (80-72-77=229) who tied for 33rd, senior Kamden Brakel (77-76-77=230) and junior Pono Calip (78-78-74=230) who tied 36th, and senior Chris Estes (95-88-87=270/53rd).
 
San Diego ran away with the team title, finishing 21 strokes ahead of the competition to win the tournament for the third consecutive year (281-279-282=842). USD's Gunner Wiebe led all three rounds and captured the individual title at eight-under par (66-71-71=208).
 
The Warriors wrap up their fall season by going head-to-head against UH-Hilo in the Battle at Hokuli'a, Nov. 7, in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.
