Danielson Earns Second CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i junior outside hitter Kanani Danielson earned second team Academic All-District 8 honors, selected by CoSIDA and announced on Thursday afternoon. This is the second straight year that Danielson earned second team honors.

Danielson, their reigning WAC Player of the Year, was selected by the coaches as the WAC Preseason Player of the Year and is a two-time WAC Player of the Week this season. Danielson currently leads UH with 341 kills with 4.49 kills per set.

The junior has started in all 23 of UH's matches at outside hitter and earned all-tournament honors in the Hawaiian Airlines Whine Classic and the Verizon Wireless Challenge. She was named Most Outstanding Player during at the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational hosted by UH earlier this season.
 
Danielson has recorded over 20 kills three times this season, including tying her career-high with 32 kills against Michigan State (Sept. 4). Last season Danielson earned first team AVCA All-American honors after making the third team as a freshman.

In order to be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
