Men’s Basketball Tips Season With Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team begins a new era when it tips off the 2010-11 campaign with the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic, Nov. 12, 13 and 15 at the Stan Sheriff Center. New head coach Gib Arnold leads the Rainbow Warriors into battle as they host Cal State Fullerton, Central Michigan and Montana State in the 47th edition of the tournament.
 
Fans got their first look at Arnold and this year's squad during an impressive 83-55 win over Chaminade on Saturday, Nov. 6. Now the regular season begins with the round-robin Rainbow Classic. The tournament begins on Friday, Nov. 12 as Hawai'i squares off against Montana State at 7:00 p.m., followed by Cal State Fullerton vs. Central Michigan at 9:30 p.m.
 
The tournament concludes on Monday with a nationally televised game between UH and Central Michigan as part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-off Marathon. It will be a UH “Blackout” as all fans are encouraged to wear black at the 11:00 p.m. tipoff.

Ticket Information: $26 (lower); $18 (upper-adult); $16 (upper-sr. citizen); $5 (upper-students, ages 4-HS); UH Manoa students free with validated ID. Parking $5.
Promotions: The first 800 fans each night will receive UH fan flags. Outrigger Hotels will host the “Shoot for Loot Contest” at halftime of each UH game. During Monday's ESPN televised game, the fan with the best sign using the ESPN acronym will win an inter-island airline ticket (signs can not be larger than 4 feet by 3 feet and no sticks can be attached to any signs). UH students can win a hotel stay during the “Outrigger Hotels Half-Court Heave.” It's a “Blackout” on Monday and fans are encouraged to wear black shirts. The first 500 UH students to enter the arena on Monday will receive a free men's basketball T-shirt (black), compliments of UH Rainbowtique. All seats are general admission that night and UH Manoa students are free all season with a validated ID.
Coaches: Gib Arnold is in his first year at UH. Brad Huse is in his third year at Montana State (40-51) and 11th year overall (239-125).
