Women's Basketball Takes On BYU-Hawai`i In Exhibition Game

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team hosts BYU-Hawai'i in its final exhibition game on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7:05 p.m.
 
The Rainbow Wahine, led by second-year head coach Dana Takahara-Dias, returns 10 letterwinners—including three starters—from last year's squad that posted a 10-20 record overall and a 4-12 record in Western Athletic Conference action. UH welcomes four newcomers—two junior college transfers (Keianna Evans and Carlotta Mingo) and two true freshman (Sydney Haydel and Kamilah Jackson). Leading the team are senior co-captains Keisha Kanekoa and Megan Tinnin.
 
The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a 74-34 exhibition game win over Chaminade last week. Jackson made a strong debut donning the green and white, leading the 'Bows with 15 points and nine rebounds while Tinnin and Haydel both chipped in nine points from the floor.
 
The Rainbow Wahine once again has a diverse squad featuring players from five different states (Arizona, California, Hawai'i, New Mexico, and North Carolina) and five foreign countries (Canada, Guyana, Japan, Lithuania, and New Zealand).
 
Hawai'i opens their regular season against CS Northridge on Nov. 19 at 5:00 p.m. in the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic.The 'Bows will play 19 home games at the Stan Sheriff Center, as well as two games in Hilo, Hawai'i in the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Shootout at the Afook-Chinen Auditorium.
