Salas Named Semifinalist For Biletnikoff Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Hawai'i slot receiver Greg Salas is one of 10 semifinalists for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, and presented annually to the nation's top receiver.

The top three finalists will be announced, Monday, Nov. 22.

Other semifinalists include Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon, Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles, Kentucky's Randall Cobb, Texas A&M's Jeff Fuller, Georgia's AJ Green, South Carolina's Alshon Jeffery, Alabama's Julio Jones, SMU's Aldrick Robinson, and Western Michigan's Jordan White.

Salas currently ranks No. 2 nationally in receiving yards per game (124.6) and No. 3 in receptions per game (8.3). He eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in receiving yards for the second straight year and is on pace to surpass his total from last season of 106 catches for 1,590 yards, both of which were the second-highest totals in school history.

The Chino, Calif., native has 16 career 100-yard receiving games, including seven this season and has a streak of 37 consecutive games with a reception dating back to the first game of his sophomore season. His career totals of 249 catches for 3,702 yards rank third and second, respectively, in school history. Salas needs 217 yards to reach the school receiving yards record held by Jason Rivers (3,919) from 2003-07.

The last UH receiver named a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award was Chad Owens in 2004. Salas has been selected to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List the past two seasons.
