Game Notes

HONOLULU – Following its first and only bye week of the season, the University of Hawai'i Warrior football team returns to action by hosting San Jose State, Saturday, Nov. 20, in a Western Athletic Conference match-up at Aloha Stadium. Kick-off is 5:30 p.m.

The Warriors (7-3, 5-1 WAC) had their six-game win streak come to an end at Boise State two weeks ago. UH was held to its lowest offensive output (196 yards) of the season in a 42-7 loss, while also suffering its first conference loss in nearly a year. Running back Alex Green rushed for 107 yards and scored the team's lone touchdown, a 54-yard jaunt in the fourth quarter. Safety Mana Silva picked off BSU quarterback Kellen Moore twice, tying a school-record with 13 career interceptions.

With two WAC games remaining, UH sits in second place in the league standings. The Warriors have also locked up a spot in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl on Christmas Eve.

The Spartans (1-9, 0-5) have lost their last seven games, including all five in conference play. SJSU dropped a 38-34 decision to Utah State last week in San Jose, Calif., after the Aggies' Derrvin Speight scored the game-winning touchdown with 34 seconds left. Spartan quarterback Jordan La Secla threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns.

In last year's meeting at Spartan Stadium, the Warriors edged the Spartans, 17-10 in overtime. Reserve quarterback Shane Austin started in place of an injured Bryant Moniz and passed for 299 yards and rushed for a score. Running back Leon Wright-Jackson scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime.

The last three meetings between the schools have been decided by a touchdown or less, while two of those games were decided in overtime. In 2008, SJSU defeated UH 20-17 at Aloha Stadium.
