Men’s Basketball Back in Action This Friday

Game Notes

HONOLULU – Fresh off of capturing the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic title, the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team returns to the Stan Sheriff Center court this Friday when it hosts Central Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. At 3-0, the Rainbow Warriors are off to their best start since the 2004-05 season.

The Rainbow Warriors, under the guidance of new head coach Gib Arnold, started the season strong with a pair of double-digit wins over Montana State (77-59) and Cal State Fullerton (84-70). In a nationally televised game on Monday, the 'Bows held off Central Michigan (65-62) to improve to 3-0 and capture their 12th all-time Rainbow Classic championship.

Hawaii has been led by its senior captains Hiram Thompson (18.0 ppg, 4.0 apg) and Bill Amis (16.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg). Thompson was named both the WAC Player of the Week and Rainbow Classic MVP this past weekend.

UH will face Central Arkansas for the first time in school history. The Bears are entering their fourth season in Division I basketball and are led by Corliss Williamson, a former NBA player and All-American at the University of Arkansas.

The game will follow women's basketball and a ticket to the men's game also allows admission to the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic beginning at 3:00 p.m.
