Hawaii Outdoor Breakthrough Performances: Week of April 13

Here's a roundup of recent track and field performances by Hawaii high school athletes from the week of April 13.

Aiden Von Dohlen (Hanalani Schools) ran 9:22.13 in the boys' 3000 meters at the 43rd Annual Velasco Invitational at Radford on April 17, improving from his previous best of 9:48.80 set in April 2026. The sophomore's time ranks #6 in Hawaii and #3 among sophomores statewide, earning him 3rd place among 24 competitors. Von Dohlen also set a personal record in the 800 meters, running 2:06.24 to improve from 2:08.94.

Zia Miel Fontanilla (Farrington) clocked 13.40 in the girls' 100 meters at the Velasco Invitational, bettering her previous mark of 13.60. The time places her 57th among 583 athletes in Hawaii and earned her 5th place out of 24 runners. Fontanilla also recorded a personal best in the 200 meters, running 27.74 to improve from 28.17.
