Sprints & Hurdles
The sprint events were headlined by a dominant all-around week from Tanoatoa Muskat (Kamehameha Schools Hawaii), who swept the sprint events at the Frosh/Soph Invitational. The sophomore won the 100 meters in 10.97, the 200 meters in 22.80, and the 400 meters in 51.71. Muskat now ranks #1 among Hawaii sophomores in both the 100 and 400 meters and #2 in the 200.
On the girls side, Aileah Villatora (Kauai High School) posted one of the top sprint doubles of the week at Qualifying Meet #6, winning the 100 meters in 12.43 and the 200 meters in 25.98. Her 100-meter performance stood as the top girls sprint mark among Hawaii competitors last week.
Alaska Delangen (Kealakehe High School) also delivered an impressive sweep at the Frosh/Soph Invitational, winning the 100 meters in 12.57 and the 200 meters in 25.68. The sophomore continued her strong season while remaining the top-ranked sophomore in Hawaii in the 200 meters.
Several athletes also produced major sprint breakthroughs. Kili Williams (Kapaa High School) improved from 12.02 to 11.66 in the boys 100 meters at Qualifying Meet #6, placing second in the event and moving into the top 10 among Hawaii sophomores. Delangen's 12.57 in the girls 100 meters also represented a personal best, improving from 12.92 while moving her into the statewide top 10 overall.
In the hurdles, Eleu Keawe (Kapaa High School) lowered his personal best in the 110-meter hurdles from 16.46 to 16.28 at Qualifying Meet #6. The junior won the event and now ranks among the top junior hurdlers in Hawaii this season.
Distance
The distance highlights featured a strong group of developing underclass athletes, led by Osai Ball (Waiakea High School), who controlled the boys 800 meters at the Frosh/Soph Invitational in 2:04.25. The sophomore won comfortably in a 16-athlete field and now ranks #3 among Hawaii sophomores in the event.
On the girls side, Zadie Bolton (Kealakehe High School) delivered a commanding performance of her own in the 800 meters, winning in 2:25.56 at the Frosh/Soph Invitational. The sophomore remains among the top-ranked athletes in her class statewide.
Several boys distance runners also recorded significant breakthroughs during the week. Oscar Reed (Hawaii Preparatory Academy) dropped more than 23 seconds in the boys 3000 meters, running 9:59.87 at the Frosh/Soph Invitational to place third. The performance moved him into the top 50 statewide.
Vivek Varricatt (Waiakea High School) made a major improvement in the boys 1500 meters, lowering his personal best from 4:48.01 to 4:35.58. He also added another personal best in the 800 meters with a 2:18.17 effort.
Another breakthrough came from Rayaan Genz (Hilo High School), who improved from 2:14.76 to 2:11.59 in the boys 800 meters at the Frosh/Soph Invitational, placing third in the competitive field.
Jumps
The jumps were highlighted by a strong triple jump showing from Aaden McGuire (Kamehameha Schools Hawaii), who cleared 43-7.75 to win the triple jump at the Frosh/Soph Invitational. The sophomore moved to #2 in Hawaii among his class in the event.
Na'i Rivera (Kohala High School) also delivered a standout performance in the horizontal jumps, winning the long jump at the Frosh/Soph Invitational with a leap of 20-6.75. The sophomore ranks #4 among Hawaii sophomores this season.
On the girls side, Mila O'Rourke (Kapaa High School) cleared 5-0 to win the high jump at Qualifying Meet #6. The sophomore remains one of Hawaii's top-ranked underclass high jumpers this spring.
