Several Hawaii high school athletes posted personal records at the HHSAA Championship on May 15.
Kaholi Krau (Baldwin) threw 49-7.75 in the boys shot put, improving from his previous best of 43-3 set in May 2026. The mark places the senior 7th among 405 athletes statewide and 4th among seniors. Krau finished 4th of 22 competitors.
Adarra Thomas (Mililani) ran 10:43.04 in the girls 3000 meters, bettering her previous mark of 10:53.71. The freshman ranks 6th of 147 athletes in Hawaii and leads all freshmen in the event. Thomas placed 4th of 24 competitors and also set a personal record in the 1500 meters, running 4:50.71 to improve from 4:59.54.
Neveah Jones (Pearl City) clocked 4:54.23 in the girls 1500 meters, lowering her previous best of 4:58.10. The freshman ranks 10th of 267 athletes statewide and 2nd among freshmen. Jones finished 8th of 20 competitors.
Ray Garman IV (Kamehameha Schools Maui) ran 1:57.30 in the boys 800 meters, improving from 2:03.36. The junior ranks 4th of 497 athletes in Hawaii and 3rd among juniors. Garman placed 2nd of 24 competitors.
Kealakalehuaonakaiewalu (Punahou) cleared 15-5 in the boys pole vault, improving from his previous mark of 14-10. The vault moved him to the top of Hawaii rankings among 110 athletes and earned him first place among 24 competitors.
Hallie Gill (Island School) ran 15.86 in the girls 100-meter hurdles, improving from 16.23 set in May 2026. The freshman ranks 5th of 173 athletes statewide and 2nd among freshmen. Gill's time set a school record and placed her 3rd of 24 competitors.
Chanse Kaaua-Long (Kamehameha Schools Hawaii) threw 165-0 in the boys discus, bettering his previous mark of 160-2 from May 2026. The throw set a school record and ranks 4th among 390 athletes in Hawaii. Kaaua-Long finished 2nd of 22 competitors.
