Sprints & Hurdles
Jayden Grevious (Moanalua High School) swept both short sprint titles at the HHSAA Championship with victories in the 100 meters (10.80) and 200 meters (22.07). Grevious also added a runner-up finish in the long jump with a mark of 22-3.5, completing one of the most well-rounded performances of the meet.
On the girls side, Violet Schaut (Konawaena High School) delivered a dominant sprint double by winning the 100 meters in 12.03 and the 200 meters in 24.45 at the HHSAA Championship. Both victories came against one of the state's premier sprint fields and established Schaut among Hawaii's top postseason performers.
Aileah Villatora (Kauai High School) also turned in an outstanding championship performance, winning the 400 meters in 56.61 while placing second in both the 100 meters (12.39) and 200 meters (25.25).
The hurdles were led by Destiny Look (Mid-Pacific Institute), who produced one of the most impressive all-around meets in Hawaii this season. Look captured titles in the 100-meter hurdles (14.59), 300-meter hurdles (43.01), long jump (18-10.25), and triple jump (40-0.25), while also adding a third-place finish in the high jump.
Several athletes also recorded major breakthroughs during the week. Hallie Gill (Island School) lowered her 100-meter hurdles best from 16.23 to 15.86 at the Championship. The freshman's school-record performance ranks #5 in Hawaii and #2 among freshmen statewide.
Distance
The distance events featured another elite championship showing from James Millare (Moanalua High School), who swept the boys middle-distance events at the HHSAA Championship. Millare captured the 800 meters in 1:56.05 and the 1500 meters in 4:03.14.
On the girls side, Sadie Krueger (Moanalua High School) matched that effort with a dominant distance double of her own, winning the 800 meters in 2:10.38 and the 1500 meters in 4:34.32. The sophomore continued her breakout season with victories over highly competitive fields.
Several distance athletes also posted major personal bests during the meet. Ray Garman IV (Kamehameha Schools Maui) improved from 2:03.36 to 1:57.30 in the 800 meters to place second and move to #4 in Hawaii this season.
Adarra Thomas (Mililani High School) delivered one of the top freshman performances of the week by lowering her 3000-meter best to 10:43.04. Thomas also improved in the 1500 meters, running 4:50.71 to add to her rapid development.
Neveah Jones (Pearl City High School) also posted a major breakthrough in the 1500 meters, improving from 4:58.10 to 4:54.23 at the HHSAA Championship. She now ranks #2 among Hawaii freshmen in the event.
Jumps
The jumps were highlighted by Kealakalehuaonakaiewalu (Punahou School), who cleared 15-5 to win the pole vault at the HHSAA Championship. The performance improved upon his previous best of 14-10 and moved him to the top mark in Hawaii this season.
On the girls side, Destiny Look (Mid-Pacific Institute) dominated the horizontal jumps with victories in both the long jump and triple jump while also placing third in the high jump to cap a remarkable championship performance.
Throws
The throws were led by Tevita Paongo (Campbell High School), who launched the discus 170-6 to win the HHSAA Championship against a 22-athlete field. The mark ranked among the top discus performances in Hawaii this season.
On the girls side, Cassera Togia White (Farrington High School) captured the discus title with a throw of 151-1, defeating a strong championship field and continuing her excellent postseason form.
Several throwers also produced breakthrough performances during the week. Kaholi Krau (Baldwin High School) improved nearly six feet in the shot put with a throw of 49-7.75 to place fourth at the state meet.
Chanse Kaaua-Long (Kamehameha Schools Hawaii) delivered a school-record discus throw of 165-0, improving from 160-2 and moving to #4 in Hawaii this season.
