4. Brodey Hasty Goes All-In For A Sub-4 Mile In Nashville
Brentwood (Tn.) High's Brodey Hasty had a smart race plan in the full mile at the Music City Distance Carnival on Saturday.
Hasty had two pacers pull him through 805m meters and then through 1205 at just over three minutes, which meant he needed just a 57-second lap to claim the 11th all-time sub-4 mile in American high school history.
Hasty just missed.But the junior, and this year's New Balance Nationals Indoor champion in the 3200m, did post the fifth best full mile in 2017, going 4:01.75. Just a junior, Hasty will likely get a few more shots at the premier mark in the immediate future.
In the girls mile field, Christian Academy of Knoxville's Rebecca Story went US No. 8 in 4:45.63.
