Island School JR Pierce Murphy, the returning HHSAA #2 performer in the Boys 1500 and 3000m Runs, set a new HI#1 in the Boys 3000m Run (9:00.3) at Friday's KIF Qualifier at Vidinha Stadium.

Murphy, who ran in the shadows of 2 HHSAA Record-breaking performances by Leilehua's Bryce Jenkins (now Idaho State) and King Kekaulike's (now training w/ New Zealand National Team) Reid Hunter at last year's HHSAA Meet, now holds the top marks in Hawaii in the Boys 1500m (4:05.3 enroute; converted from his 4:25.98 Mile at 2010 Arcadia Invitational) and in the 3000m (9:00.3) Runs.

HHSAA 2010 qualifying times were also picked up by Kapa'a sprinter/hurdler Rachael Hinkel (12.7h), Kauai Sprinter/Hurdler Darren Acoba (14.9h 100HH/11.2h 100m) and Kapa'a Sprinter Darren Taylor (10.9h).

HHSAA accepts both hand-timed and FAT standards for it's Championship Meet in the sprints and longer distance races.
