Several Hawaii high school track and field athletes recorded personal bests at conference championships during the week of May 4.
Zion Aupaau (Kahuku) threw 47-2.5 in the shot put at the OIA Varsity Track & Field Championships on May 7, improving from his previous best of 42-6 set in April. The mark places him 17th in the state and sixth among 24 competitors at the meet.
Mahealani Leong (Pearl City) ran 12.99 in the 100 meters at the OIA Championships, dropping her time from a previous best of 13.14. The freshman ranks 37th in the state and fifth among freshmen while finishing eighth of 21 competitors. Leong also set a personal record in the 200 meters, improving from 28.08 to 27.53.
Andre Bourdon (Leilehua) clocked 2:04.26 in the 800 meters at the OIA Championships, lowering his previous best of 2:09.81. The time moves him to 35th in the state rankings and he placed 11th of 21 runners.
Nikko Roy (Baldwin) ran 2:10.96 in the 800 meters at the MIL Championships on May 8, improving from his April personal best of 2:16.85. Roy ranks 86th in the state and finished sixth of 25 competitors.
Charley Garo (Maui) posted 2:11.01 in the 800 meters at MIL Championships, bettering his previous mark of 2:16.64 from earlier in May. Garo is ranked 87th statewide and placed seventh of 25 runners.
Bruce Beltran (Kamehameha Schools Maui) cleared 14-4 in the pole vault at MIL Championships, improving from a previous best of 13-9. The junior won the event among 11 competitors and ranks third in the state and first among juniors.
Ethan Enomoto (Kalani) ran 15.72 in the 110-meter hurdles at the OIA Championships, lowering his time from 16.26. The junior ranks 11th in the state and third among juniors while placing seventh of 19 competitors.
