WAILUKU - For the Baldwin High School boys, it was business as usual.

For the Seabury Hall girls, it was history.

Baldwin rode a championship throwing double by Pasoni Tasini, single titles by Vetekina Malafu and Kama Maielua, a win in the 400-meter relay and its remarkable depth to a sixth straight Maui Interscholastic League boys track and field title Saturday night at Yamamoto Track & Field Facility.

"Coach said when we came out here we didn't have to get first, we just had to put points up there for the team," Malafu said after winning the 110 high hurdles in 15.75 seconds. "Tonight, it's for the team."

The Bears finished with 189 points, more than second-place Kamehameha Maui (77) and third-place Maui High (70) combined.

"Definitely a team effort tonight, we got some seconds, thirds, fourths that I don't know where the heck these guys came from," said Baldwin coach Gary Sanches. "Friday night during the trials we didn't do what we should have done and then tonight we came back with both barrels, so I'm happy for the kids."
