MIL Junior Varsity Championship Finals

Baldwin Girls outscored Kamehameha Maui 210-128, while the Baldwin Boys outscored Kamehameha Maui 190-107 at the 2010 MIL Junior Varsity Championship Finals last night at War Memorial in Wailuku.

 

The Lady Bears racked up 48 points in the distance races, placing their runners in the top 3 scoring positions in the 800m and 3000m. Eunice Park won the 800 (2:39.39) while teammates Elli Bio (2:41.81) and Keisha Mateo (2:46.03) were second and third respectively. Aubrianna Belen lead the Baldwin Girls' charge in the 3000 (12:25.71), followed by teammates Jillian Betsill (13:04.75) and Krystle Lopez (13:59.04).

 

Baldwin's Amber Kozaki chipped in 28 points for her double in the 200m (27.72) and Pole Vault (8-6) and for her second place finish in the girls 100m (13.32) behind teammate Caitlin Buen-Lucas (13.18).

 

In the Girls 100m Hurdle event, Alesha Martin (18.30) outpaced her teammate Stormy Christiensen (18.80) for 18 points.  In the Triple Jump Amber-Lei Madriaga (32-11.00) took first, while teammate Christina Imada was not far behind with her 32-08.00 in the finals, adding another 18 points.

 

The Kamehameha girls went 1-2 in the Girls 400m, with Raven Poepoe (1:07.62) outpacing teammate Kea Castro (1:08.57) and earning 18 team points. Poepoe also won the girls High Jump (4-5). The Warrior Girls also picked up points with wins in the Girls 300m Hurdles (Kalena Kaeo 51.52), girls Long Jump (Ashley Wendt 15-07.50) and by sweeping the 400m (53.35) and 1600m (4:34.20) Relays.

 

Baldwin Freshman James Pearson led the boys, earning 26 points with a distance double (4:39.33/10:16.92) and by earning the bronze in the 800m (2:16.88)

 

Daylen Machado led the Kamehameha Boys with wins in the 200m (23.42) and TJ (38-1) and by earning the bronze in the the LJ (17-10)

 

Pearson's teammate Tasani Pasoni improved his prelim performances with his 46-3/144-5 Throws Double earning 20 points for the Bears at Friday's finals, while Kina Malafu added 18 points with his 11.55 100m victory and by placing second to Machado in the 200m (23.73)

 

The Bears' Dieon Kaalekea chipped in 10 points for his 11-06.00 Pole Vault victory over Kihei Charter's Lucas Zarro, who also cleared 11-6.
