Kamehameha HI SR Kaopua Sutton and Ka'u SR Jacob Edwards have set new Big Island Interscholastic Federation Track and Field Records at Friday's trials of the 2010 BIIF Track and Field Championships at Konawaena High School's Julian Yates Field in Kealakekua.

 

Sutton earned a National Elite mark with her PR 126-06.50 on her third attempt in the Girls Discus Throw at Friday's trials. She had fouled her second attempt after a 104-07.50 throw on her first attempt. She will also compete as the #4 seed at Saturday's finals in the Girls Shot Put (33-00.50).

 

Edwards, the 2009 HHSAA 110m and 300m Hurdle Champion, set a new BIIF Record in the Boys Triple Jump with his National Elite 45-4.50, earning the top seed in that event. Edwards has also qualified for Saturday's finals in the boys 300m Hurdles (39.54), 100m (11.44), 200m (22.90) and Long Jump (20-04.50).
