Five standout Big Island Interscholastic Federation Track and Field athletes combined for a total of eight meet record-breaking performances at the 2010 BIIF Track and Field Championship, held Friday and Saturday 5/8-9/2010 at Konawaena High School's Julian Yates Field in Kealakekua, HI.
Hawaii Prep's 58-point girl, BIIF Female Athlete of the Year SR Ku'uipo Nakoa, broke three of those eight herself, improving on previous performances made by three Ka'u High School girls alumni in the 110m Hurdles (HI#2 15.16), 300m Hurdles (HI#1 46.04) and Triple Jump (35-08.75). Those meet records had been previously set by Ka'u grads Larissa Edwards (15.23) in 2008, Sarah Nicolaisen (46.18) in 2005 and Ku'ulei Karratti (35-04) in 2003. Nicolaisen was on hand to congratulate Nakoa, and to present her with her Gold medal for the 300m Hurdles.
