KAHULUI - The winner of four out of five Valley Isle races this fall, Zach Ferguson was certainly one of the favorites to capture a Maui Interscholastic League championship on Saturday morning at the Kahului Community Center.
When he crossed the finish line, the Maui Preparatory Academy senior received a well-deserved cross-country version of a standing ovation, with fans and foes from near and far flocking over to witness and cheer on the unusual feat.
